태권도 역사

초창기 무도를 창관한 인물들

태권도 역사의 시작은 "태권도"라는 명칭이 탄생한 시기를 전후로 해서 시작된다.

정확한 사실과 자료, 근거가 없는 고대사를 태권도사에 이입하려고 하는 것은 논쟁의 소지가 끝이 없기 때문이다.

1-태권도 명칭 탄생 이전 1945~1954년

태권도 명칭 탄생 이전 1944년부터 조선에서는 일본의 무술과 중국 무술이

들어오게 되는데 일본과 중국에서 활동한 이원국, 황기, 윤병인,

전상섭,노병직 등이 공수도, 당수 도라는 무도명으로 처음 이 땅(조선 반도)

에 무도를 보급하기 시작했다.

특이한 사항은, 무덕관, 청도관은 "당수도"라는 무도명으로

송무관, 창무관,지도관은 "공수도"라는 무도명을 사용했다는 것이다.

시대와 창관한 사람들을 살펴보면,

1944년 청도관 창설자, 이원국

1945년 무덕관 창설자, 황기

1946 조선연무관 창설자 전상섭, 이후 1953년 "지도관"으로 개명, 윤쾌병

1946년 YMCA권법부 창설자 윤병인, 이후 1953년 "창무관"으로 개명,

1945년 일본으로부터 해방한 조선은 남과 북으로 나뉘게 되고 1950년

6.25 전쟁 이후 남에서는 5개관 (청도관,무덕관,지도관,창무관,송무관)이

본격적으로 당수도, 공수도가 전파되기 시작되었다.

1-Before the birth of Taekwondo name, 1945~1954

Before the name Taekwondo was born, Japanese martial arts and Chinese martial arts were introduced into Joseon in 1944, and Lee Won-guk, Hwang Ki, Yoon Byeong-in, Jeon Sang-seop, and Noh Byeong-jik, who were active in Japan and China, first introduced the martial arts to this land (Karate) under the martial arts names Karate and Tang Soo-do. He began to spread martial arts to the Joseon Reactionary Movement.

What is unusual is that Mudeokkwan and Cheongdokwan are under the martial arts name Dangsoodo.

Song Moo-gwan, Chang Moo-gwan, and Jido-gwan used the martial arts name of Gongsu-do.

4-스포츠와 무도 태권도의 양분화 시작 1974~2002년

1972년 최홍희 총재는 한국 정부와 마찰로 캐나다로 망명하면서 ITF 본부를 캐나다로 이전하게 되고. 1974년 7월 캐나다 몬트리올에서

23개국이 참가한 제1회 세계선수권대회를 개최했다.

이후 캐나다를 기점으로 ITF는 세계화를 위해 최홍희 총재는 해외 순방 세미나에 들어가고 1980년에는 북한에도 ITF 태권도가 처음으로 보급하면서 북한 정부의 막강한 지원으로 1985년 오스트리아 비엔나에

본부를 설립, 이전하면서 2023년 카자흐스탄에서 22회까지 세계대회를 개최했다.

한편 ITF 태권도가 1972년 한국을 떠난 이후 해외에서 활동 영역을

넓혀가는 과정에서 한국 정부는 ITF 태권도를 파괴하기 위해 조직적으로 한국 사범들을 회유하기도 했다.

1972년 ITF 태권도가 캐나다로 떠나자 한국에서는 1972년 국기원

중앙도장을 건립하고 1973년 세계태권도연맹(WTF)을 창립한다.

태권도는 원래 시작부터 무도적 성격으로 출발했으며 ITF 태권도는

군대에서 시작한 태권도로서 일격 필살의 정신을 담고 있다.

한편 WTF 태권도는 1973년 제1회 세계선수권대회를 개최하면서 태권도가 경기화, 스포츠화되기 시작했으며 경기종목으로 국제적으로 인정을 받아서 1988년 서울 올림픽, 1992년 바르셀로나 올림픽 시범종목을 거쳐 1994년 올림픽 정식종목으로 채택되어 완전한 스포츠 태권도를 이루었다.

1972년~2002년까지 30년 동안 태권도는 ITF, WT 양분된 모습으로 무도와 스포츠로서 같은 이름이지만 다른 성격의 태권도로서 세계화되었다.

5-인터넷 상용화 이후 태권도 역사의 변화 2000~2024년

태권도는 인터넷이란 거대하고 투명한 새로운 플랫폼이 세상에 나오기 시작한 2000년대와 그 이전의 역사는 많은 변화와 더불어 변절된 역사론으로 분쟁의 소지가 많았다.

인터넷이 상용화된 2000년부터 최홍희 ITF 총재가 세상을 떠난 2002년까지만 해도 ITF 본산인 한국 내에서조차 ITF와 최홍희 관련 자료는 알려지지 않았다.

이것은 1972년 최홍희 총재가 캐나다로 정치적인 망명을 한 이후부터 1997년까지 한국 정부는 철저하게 ITF와 최홍희 정보를 차단했기 때문이다.

하지만 2000년대 인터넷이 나타나면서 글로벌적 정보가 쏟아져

나오자 ITF 태권도의 정통성과 역사가 세상 밖으로 나오기 시작했으며 2024 오늘은 위키백과 등에서도 태권도 역사는 팩트와 자료 중심으로 투명화되기 시작했다.
